Prepare to be captivated by the enchanting sounds of Ravi (@SITARBYRAVI)!
Ravi has been weaving a unique musical tapestry, blending the intricate melodies of the sitar with the familiar tunes of pop anthems, beloved Disney classics, soul-stirring Bhajans, and the timeless beauty of Indian Classical Raags.
His musical journey began long before his public debut, with a deep immersion in Indian Classical Music from a young age. The rhythmic foundation of his artistry was laid at just five years old, learning the tabla from his father. This early exposure has blossomed into an intense study of Indian musical traditions, which he now masterfully infuses into his innovative sitar interpretations.
Having dedicated himself to the sitar since 2019, Ravi's performances are a vibrant fusion of his Aussie upbringing and Indian heritage, creating an experience that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly contemporary.

Ravi plays sitar covers of Pop songs, Disney songs, Bhajans (Hindu Devotional songs) + Indian Classical Raags.
Ravi has been performing publicly under the handle @SITARBYRAVI since 2023, and has been learning sitar since 2019.
Ravi started learning Indian Classical Music from a very young age, and began learning tabla (Indian Drums) from his Dad when he was 5 years old.
Ravi didn't discover his passion for sitar until he quit his retail job at Coles. He rediscovered his mother's sitar (brought with her when she migrated all the way from Guyana decades ago), and she showed him the basic sargam again in 2019. Ravi started learning on that very same sitar, and travelled to Wollongong to learn from Scott Benning, but these lessons were quite sporadic, and ultimately the distance proved to be too far to continue. Ravi continued to practice on his own, and in 2022 started taking virtual classes from India (The Foundation Room mentored by Niladri Kumar) and the UK (Darbar Academy mentored by Roopa Panesar), which significantly accelerated his progress!
Ravi participated in the 2024 Sydney Fringe Festival, with a number of small-scale performances, which culminated in a sold out show at Parramatta's Riverside Theatre.
Ravi was born and raised in Australia, but both of his parents are from Guyana.
Ravi has been married to Paridhi since 2014.
Ravi has two older sisters, Sharda and Amrita.
Ravi currently works at a Disability Day Program called Avenue.
